Follow our inspirational journey with a front row seat as our team of kid scientists go hands on to show how STEM careers improve lives and impact communities. Each live broadcast is an amazing peek behind the scenes of Exploration Nation and includes interviews with the cast, crew and scientists participating in the Expedition.
Some of the broadcasts are on weekends - making perfect, super-engaging homework! Assign your students to watch the broadcasts with their family for discussion on the following Monday.
Note: The broadcasts will archive for later viewing. Technical considerations may make some broadcasts impossible. Broadcasts are appropriate for all ages.
The schedule is as follows:
Friday April 5th - Team XN Arrives
Enzo, Haley and Emma assemble their film crew in Costa Rica and begin preparing for the adventure ahead. Watch as the hosts tell their stories and ask questions via Twitter.
Saturday April 6th - The Perfect Banana
The team joins up with experts at Dole to work on a sustainable banana farm and see how bananas are grown, harvested and delivered to people around the world without disrupting the ecosystem.
Sunday April 7th - Behind the Scenes - Adventure
The team films a series of amazing adventures including rappelling down a giant waterfall and rafting through the rain forest.
Monday April 8th - Rebuilding the Rain Forest
Team XN works with world renowned experts to understand the carbon cycle and reforestation. From planting trees to collecting wild specimens, follow our team as they untangle the rain forest ecosystem.
Tuesday April 9th - Behind the Scenes - Into Nicaragua
Join our crew as we board river boats to cross the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We'll pass through three, military checkpoints and arrive at our operational base before sun sets - if we are lucky. If we don't make it, we'll need to navigate the waters of the Indian River in total darkness!
Wednesday April 10th - The Last Shaman
Enzo, Haley and Emma meet the Rama Indians last living shaman to uncover his secrets to natural healing and medicine. Working with a Special Forces veteran and natural medicine expert, the team will learn how modern medicine and ancient knowledge combine to save lives.
Thursday April 11th - Behind the Scenes - Rio Indio
Thursday comes as a day of rest for the team as they gather at the Rio Indio Lodge, a stunning location deep in the heart of the jungle. Catch exclusive interviews with the hosts of Exploration Nation and ask questions via Twitter!
Friday April 12th - Jungle Survival
The team shoots a very special lesson program where they must use their combined scientific knowledge to survive the night in the rain forest - with no food, water or shelter.
Saturday April 13th - It takes a Village
Team XN and the medical team make their first visit to San Juan - a tiny village of indigenous people in Nicaragua. They will meet with tribal elders and the lone physician for the tribes to get ready to treat hundreds of people (many traveling many miles for treatment) from surrounding areas.
Sunday April 14th - Innovation in Action
In an emotional conclusion, Enzo, Emma and Haley will work side by side with our team of surgeons and physicians to improve the lives of hundreds of people. They will connect with their Indian peers and learn very directly how a career in the sciences is a path to improve lives in their world and beyond.
Monday April 15th - Out of Nicaragua
Travel upstream on the Indian River back to Costa Rica with Team XN as they return to civilization.
